Harmony Lane Deck The Halls (Holly) December 25, 1992 -- April 26, 2009

Return To Meryl

I said good bye to one of my best friends in April 2009. Not only was she my best friend but she was one of original pioneer agility dogs in Georgia, The first agility match ever was held in Georgia was at Jim Miller park. It was freezing cold. Holly broke her leg the day before when she was only 8 weeks old. But she was there watching and waiting for her turn one day.

Holly was born on Christmas day, so her name Harmony Lane Deck the Halls "Holly" Although I am known for running my Border Collies in agility it was actually my 2 Brittany's that got me hooked on agility.

Holly was fun and playful and loved other dogs. There was a period in my life that she had way more friends calling her for play dates then I had friends. She raised all the dogs that followed her teaching them how important play is. She taught my border collies that life was about fun not all work and seriousness like Border collies can be.

I have had a sad year. I let Holly go as she was in a lot of pain and I could not let her suffer anymore. My precious little girl rallied a few times, but in the end she had nothing left. I am heart broken and will miss her for the rest of my life.

She was the first Brittany in the country to do so much... actually the first dog in GA to get the ADCH (also in the Country first Brittany) and the MX and MXJ. Would have been the first MACh had she been showing when it started but I had retired her from AKC before then. But mostly she was my most beautiful precious girl who loved to please me and loved to play soccer and swim and hunt. The agility she did just because she loved me not because she really loved it. The hole in my heart is so big right now. She was a great hunter and was so proud of finding the birds and doing her job that the professional hunters always were impressed. I did the
hunting for her and she did the agility for me.

My life will never be the same after having this precious girl in my life. My heart will always have a whole where she was so loved. A year ago after the Sirius trial I lost my precious Lacy, she seemed to wait until I was done working on the trial. And now Holly left me a week after the April trial. She too waited until it was done. My girls were both beautiful on the inside and out. Without Holly and Lacy there would have never been a Sirius training center as it was their joy of life that got me hooked on agility.

Good Bye Sweet Holly I will love you forever, I will miss you forever. My only wish is that you are with Lacy who you truly loved and that Bandit the cat finds you so he can once again curl up in bed with you. And that Angel the cat can come rub all over you and thoroughly embarrass you as she loved you and you her.....but you were pretty sure it was not cool to love cats.

Good bye, good bye my beautiful girl.
