I have loved working with animals since I can
remember. My first dog was a sheltie and was the family dog that we got
when I was eight. Poor little guy, he was as patient with me as I learned
how to teach him to do all kinds of tricks. When I was in college, I got
Zippy to be my buddy and to be a “barn dog” and go to horse shows with me.
He and I became best buds and he went with me wherever I went. Looking for
something fun to do with him, I started agility classes with him when he
was five and it didn’t take long before I knew I was hooked. He has taught
me a lot and we have had a blast together learning and competing. As many
of us do, I decided that one agility dog just wasn’t enough so Eve joined
our family in June 2002. She has been a great challenge for me and I can’t
tell you how much I’ve learned since getting her. I look forward to my
future in agility with both of my dogs as well as continuing to learn and
improve on my abilities and understanding and pass my experience and
knowledge on to my students. Agility has become such a large part of our
lives that I just can’t imagine not scheduling my weekends around dog
events.
